The Colour Me Safe journey began long before we officially registered as a company in 2018. Our founder, Lisa, is a salon owner, trainer, and entrepreneur on a mission to simplify and enhance allergy alert testing—ensuring it aligns seamlessly with manufacturer guidelines while adding value to businesses.

At Colour Me Safe, we collaborated with the University of Canterbury over a three-year study on colour allergies. Through this research, we developed purpose-designed packaging that contains the precise amount of product needed to conduct a valid allergy alert test.

Why does this matter? Allergy alert tests must cover at least 1cm² of skin to provide an accurate indication of sensitivity. Our research revealed a crucial finding: if the product isn’t activated, those with allergies don’t react.With this knowledge, we created an easy, effective, and reliable system—helping professionals protect their clients while streamlining the process.
